We seamlessly augmented Pure’s data team to help them whilst they were hiring.

Objective

Sometimes you just need an extra hand. And that was the case for dating app Pure. They were looking to expand their data engineering team but in the mean time just needed some extra support to ensure that they could clear their backlog. We helped them on a wide range of engineering tasks, most noticeably modelling within dbt.

Solution

This project is a good example of technical debt building over time as we found that a number of existing models overlapped and were not optimised, leading to slow run times and rework for the analytics team. We were able to reconfigure and revamp their structure the models and establish best practice for analytics. We also integrated a number of new data sources including: CardPay, Huawei Revenue, Twitter Ads, Snapchat ads and Vkonakte Ads.

Our team was able to cover all the critical engineering areas that the Pure internal team was not able to cover, as well as providing a new framework and cleaner modelling for the future.
